Toro II depicts a bull in an attitude of stillness and command. Unlike the action captured in Toro I, here the animal stands at rest, firm and poised. Its proud bearing conveys power and control. Broad volumes and gently curving lines balance strength with serenity.
The stylised form and refined geometry bring the animal figure into a contemporary sculptural language, evoking the bull’s dignity in the dehesa, the open woodland pasture of the Iberian Peninsula.
Toro II complements Toro I in a series that explores the bull’s strength and symbolic identity through different attitudes. It conveys a watchful presence, majesty and restrained power. The piece has been exhibited alongside Espona’s other animal sculptures and is regarded as one of the series’ most balanced works for its harmony of form and character.
