In this work, Vicente de Espona reinterprets the myth of Medusa through a symbolic, contemporary lens. The female figure takes on an organic, almost cosmic form: rounded volumes transform the body, while extending shapes evoke tentacles.
The composition brings together sensuality, strength and mystery. Its flowing, enveloping forms suggest an ancient feminine energy, while the polished surfaces and variations in the patina heighten the sculpture’s enigmatic quality.
The work invites viewers to walk around it. Each angle reveals new relationships between its volumes, as well as anatomical and symbolic details that change how the whole is perceived.
The green and brown patina enriches the bronze surface, giving the piece an organic, timeless appearance. Signed by the artist, Medusa Cósmica has been included in exhibitions exploring the transformation of the female body and contemporary interpretations of myth.
